Here are some pctures of the inside of the Huntingdon Indoor Club showing the 4 rink and 2 rinks.

Hand RailsDales Playing Surfaces have replaced the ‘GripperRods’ and restretched the carpet to provide a playing speed of 17+ seconds. Also they have installed Safety Hand Rails at each end to provide easier access to the playing surface.

It is intended to to re-number the rinks from 1 -6 to 6 -1, this is to assist the computer programme to maximise rink usage.

Please feel free to use this means to offer any comments.

This blog has come about because the Club was considering a Website and this seemed a better alternative and I will just take a moment to explain…

Cost

A website generally costs more. It costs more for the initial design, then there is the upkeep and maintenance and then there are support costs. Unless you have a web designer friend who will do this for free for you, chances are there are ongoing fees each time you want to have an update although some designers bundle this in with the initial website cost.

Quick & Easy Updates

You will all find this so easy to just come on here and post updates.  You can create a new post by just clicking on the “New Post” button or you can add a comment to an existing Post.

So if you want to respond to something or tell your members something here is the place to do it.  You really do not need an “ology” or a degree in computing to do this.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)

This is the technical bit so skip forward to next section if not interested in this!

Basically there is no difference between whether the club uses a website or a blog to attract new members.  This blog will feature just as well as a website for terms and words in Search Engines such as google. Words and phrases will still be picked up for “rankings”.  So in short if someone puts into google “indoor bowls, huntingdon” hopefully this blog will come up on google and help to direct them to joining the club.

Appreciation of Members & Performance

This blog will help people in the club show each other that members are appreciated and so is performance.  It is up to you what you put on here.

Moderating the Blog

We have set up the blog so that all comments posted go into a Moderation queue.  This is to stop weirdo’s and spammers from posting a load of rubbish onto the Club blog and also just a quick check that people are not posting anything offensive or anything that could jeopardise their security by posting personal information by accident.  This can be reviewed so that posts are not moderated and appear straight away but the Club Management has decided to be cautious to start off with.

Maxxy is moderating the blog at the moment and will approve these as quickly as possible but if you have something urgent please call us on 01480 878 082

No access to a computer?

If you have something that you want to write about but don’t have access to a computer you can write something and ask the club to fax to me at 01480 435609 and I will type it for you and post it on to the blog.

Will this replace the use of the noticeboards at the club?

No.  Information will still be on the noticeboards.  It will just be on the Blog aswell.

Who is Maxxy anyway?

Maxine is Bob Welford’s daughter who set up her own business in 2004 helping businesses in Huntingdon and nationwide increase their sales.  With experience in finance, administration and IT, as well as sales and customer service Maxine and Anna (Regional Manager for Maxxy Head Office) can assist with a range of things to help the Club on a flexible an ad-hoc basis.

Happy blogging and please post your comments here on what you would like added to the Blog or what you think of it so far.

Kind regards

Maxine
